Color Matching
During my education at the Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) I spent a lot of time learning the value of color matching and mixing.
Chroma Chart
In my first year at OCAC we learned the importance of proper color mixing. The drawing and painting students participated in many exercises in mixing pigment, both dry and wet, to match paint chips, we made color wheels, and chroma charts. The image above is the chroma chart that I made in my first year foundations course.
This is an image of my current color swatch notebook.
Mixing Notes
As a painter, I learned quickly to take notes when mixing colors. When mixing my color palette I always take note of what paints I am using to make a particular color so I can ensure that if I run out I can make it again.
